80s TV make-up
I am busy working at home today, and I have the t.v. on for a little background noise. Dallas is on the soap channel and unfortunately I now have the theme song stuck in my head.
I happened to glance over at the TV and WOW! that make-up is nuts!!! Crazy 80s make-up (actually the show debuted back in 1978 and it's last episode was in 1991) Now I am really devoting this blog to make-up but I must throw in that the hair is quite impressive as well. It is absolutely huge. It defies gravity. It is like a cloud of cotton candy hair fluff following the actresses around.
Back to make-up: the eyeliner is always apparent and the eye shadows, not necessarily in super bright colors, extend from the lash line all the way up to the eyebrow. And the shading techniques are beautifully and skillfully applied, but just so excessive, especially compared to the make-up on t.v. nowadays.
The thing that I especially love is the fact that regardless of what is going on each actress has a full face on. The scene that inspired this blog entry was a phone conversation between two female characters. What was outstanding was that it was nighttime and they were both in bed just about to go to sleep- in full out make-up! thick eyeliner, shimmery eye shadows and big glossy lips. Hate to see their pillowcases the next morning- yucky!
These make-ups are very dated yet, I have to say beautiful and ultra glamorous.
