Midwest Haunters Convention

This weekend I attended the Midwest Haunter's Convention in Columbus, Ohio.  This convention was primarily for owners and operators of haunted attractions.  Their community is friendly and a positive environment where everyone is willing to share their experiences.

I was able to catch a few make-up workshops that were quite outstanding.  A 2 part prosthetics workshop instructed by Scott Sliger was great because it was actually hands on.  We built a few molds that we could take home and later build more latex prosthetics.  Gene Flaharty from Mehron gave a Moulage class and the Wolfe Brothers had demos on their paints, which I love.  All instructors were very generous with their wide scope of knowledge.

Last year I worked at a haunted attraction in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago.  It was Cherry Red's Twisted House of Terror.  It was my first experience with the fast paced SPFX make-ups that are required of a live action attraction and I found it very satisfying creatively.  The make-ups that are needed are much more theatrical due to lighting and quickness of their viewing.  I am hoping to find another haunting this Halloween that will be as challenging and as rewarding as last years.
